Individual Therapy
Psychological therapy takes place when a professional psychologist meets with a client in order to discuss aspects of the client’s life which are causing them distress. This is an entirely confidential meeting, wherein client and psychologist explore together to understand the nature of the problem and discuss ways of moving forward. This is a safe space where feelings can be explored and expressed in a non-judgmental environment. We specialise in counselling and psychological therapy for adults experiencing a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. Any issues which are causing you distress can be explored in therapy.

Family Therapy
At the Therapy Trust we work with families who may be experiencing difficulty. A systemic approach to therapy is taken wherein all family members are invited to sessions in order to explore and resolve aspects of family life which may be causing distress and concern. Many issues bring families for therapy including relationship issues, adjustment to health difficulties, family conflict, family transitions such as separations and more complex mental health problems which may effect all family members. Any issues can be worked upon in family therapy. The aim of therapy is to improve communication, understanding and patterns of relating to one another, within families.

Child & Adolescent Therapy
At the Therapy Trust we specialise in psychological services for children and adolescents. Therapy is adapted to suit the development level of the young person. Play/art therapy techniques are often drawn upon to enable the child to communicate their distress and open up communication. Teenagers in particular can find a formal therapy setting intimidating which is not conducive to meeting their psychological needs. Dr. Sara khan is experienced in working with young people who are experiencing complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. Dr Sara Khan has worked in NHS specialist child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and draws upon evidence based treatment approach’s to help young people move forward. Children are referred for a variety of issues related to emotional and behavioural difficulties, including developmental issues, peer, academic and family problems.

Couples Therapy
We provide couples counselling at the Therapy Trust for couples that are struggling on their own to resolve relationship difficulties. It is often helpful to have a therapist support you who can offer a neutral space where difficulties can be explored. We provide a non-judgmental environment wherein patterns of relating to one another can be explored with the aim of improving communication, transparency and the resolution of complex feelings.

We provide the following therapies:

  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Child centered cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Play therapy
  • Integrative therapy
  • EMDR

The type of therapy that may be helpful will be discussed after a comprehensive assessment has been carried out.
